AMS 4205 covers 7010 plate in the T7451 temper, solution heat treated, stress relieved, then aged to a microstructure that balances damage tolerance and corrosion resistance. 7010 is also supplied in related tempers under AMS 4203 (T7351) and AMS 4204 (T7651) for different strength and corrosion targets. In T7451 plate, the alloy typically gives an ultimate tensile strength around 530 MPa, a yield strength of 470 MPa or higher, elongation of 6 to 8%, and good fracture toughness, with K1c values often above 27 MPa√m. Those numbers stay consistent across a wide thickness range, and the alloy holds its strength in thick sections better than many competitors because it is less quench sensitive. Density is about 2.82 g/cm3, with a modulus near 70 to 71 GPa. Confirm property values against the mill certification, since they vary with temper and thickness.

A standout trait of 7010 is its improved resistance to stress-corrosion cracking and exfoliation while still carrying higher strength than many T7xxx tempers. It keeps strong fatigue performance under cyclic load, which matters for airframe life. Weldability is limited and formability is moderate, so this is not a forming alloy. It machines well, though, and can be clad for added surface protection in aggressive conditions.

7010 earns its place in high-load aircraft structure. Common uses include fuselage components, wing spars, ribs, bulkheads, and other primary structural parts in military and commercial aviation. It also serves in military vehicles and high-performance engineering where weight savings, durability, and stress reliability all count.
