PM Industries manufactures, supplies, and stocks Hastelloy C276 Round Bar (UNS N10276). It's a nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy with a tungsten addition, and it remains one of the most widely specified corrosion-resistant alloys in chemical processing service. The high molybdenum content, around 15–17%, gives C276 its strong resistance to reducing acids and localized corrosion. Chromium adds oxidizing acid resistance. Tungsten reinforces resistance to pitting and crevice attack in chloride-rich environments. Together, those elements produce an alloy with broad corrosion coverage that few materials can match.

C276 has decades of proven field performance across some of the most corrosive industrial environments in existence. That track record is a large part of why it continues to be the default specification in many chemical plant and pollution control applications where a new alloy with less history would be a harder sell.

Sulfuric and hydrochloric acid resistance covers a wide range of concentrations and temperatures. In dilute to moderately concentrated acids at elevated temperatures, C276 maintains low corrosion rates where austenitic stainless steels and lower-alloy nickel grades corrode too quickly for practical service. That range covers a large portion of the acid service conditions encountered in chemical manufacturing.

Chloride resistance is strong. Pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-rich process streams, seawater, and wet chlorine environments are common failure modes for stainless steels. C276's high pitting resistance equivalent, driven by its molybdenum, chromium, and tungsten content, provides reliable protection in those conditions across a wide temperature range.

Intergranular corrosion resistance in the as-welded condition is a practical advantage in fabricated equipment. Many earlier nickel alloys required post-weld annealing to restore corrosion resistance in the heat-affected zone. C276's low carbon content and controlled composition avoid that, which simplifies fabrication of welded vessels, heat exchangers, and piping systems without compromising weld zone performance.
