It delivers nearly twice the yield strength of standard 304 and 316 stainless steels while offering better corrosion resistance than either grade in most service environments.

Nitronic 50 contains 20.5–23.5% chromium, 11.5–13.5% nickel, 4.0–6.0% manganese, 1.5–3.0% molybdenum, 0.20–0.40% nitrogen, along with additions of vanadium and niobium. That combination produces an alloy with high strength, good ductility, and strong resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride stress corrosion cracking.

Galling resistance is a key reason engineers specify this alloy for fasteners, shafts, valves, and fittings that go through repeated assembly and disassembly. It outperforms standard austenitic grades significantly in metal-to-metal contact situations without lubrication.
