PM Industries manufactures, supplies, and stocks Bronze Round Bar in diameters from 6mm to 250mm. Bronze is a family of copper-based alloys, not a single metal. Copper content typically runs 70–95%, combined with elements such as aluminum, silicon, manganese, nickel, or phosphorus depending on the alloy grade. The three most commonly specified grades are aluminum bronze, silicon bronze, and phosphor bronze, each with distinct performance characteristics.

Corrosion resistance in seawater and marine environments is one of the key reasons bronze gets specified over stainless in certain applications. Where galvanic corrosion or saltwater attack is a concern, bronze outperforms many standard grades. Pump shafts, valve stems, marine hardware, ship fittings, and underwater components are all typical applications.
Common bronze alloy grades and their strengths:
- Aluminum bronze: high tensile strength, excellent seawater corrosion resistance, good cavitation resistance

Wear resistance and low friction characteristics make bronze round bar a reliable choice for bearings, bushings, gears, and sliding parts. These components run under continuous mechanical stress and need a material that holds its dimensions and surface quality over time. Bronze does that well.
Machinability is another practical advantage. Bronze machines efficiently with standard tooling, holds tight tolerances, and produces a good surface finish, which keeps fabrication costs down and simplifies production of complex geometries.
