PM Industries manufactures, supplies, and stocks Cobalt Round Bar in diameters from 5mm to 200mm. Cobalt (Co, atomic number 27) is a hard, lustrous gray transition metal with a melting point of 1,495°C and a density of 8.90 g/cm³. Bars are produced from pure cobalt metal or cobalt-based alloys at 99.5% purity minimum.

Cobalt retains hardness at elevated temperatures up to 500°C, which is why it's specified for cutting tools, drilling equipment, mold inserts, and wear components that run hot under load. Standard tool steels soften well before that point. Cobalt doesn't.

Corrosion resistance is strong across a range of aggressive environments, including acid and chemical exposure. That makes cobalt round bar a practical material for valve seats, pump components, and chemical processing equipment where both wear and corrosion are factors.

Magnetic performance is another reason cobalt gets specified when other metals won't do. It has high magnetic saturation and stable magnetic characteristics across varying temperatures, which is critical for permanent magnets, electromagnetic components, and motor applications where consistency under thermal cycling matters.

Cobalt machines and casts well, allowing fabrication into complex geometries. It also welds reliably using standard techniques. Bar is available across the full diameter range in annealed, machined, bright polished, and ground conditions with full material certification.
