PM Industries manufactures, supplies, and stocks Inconel 625 Round Bar (UNS N06625). It's a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with a niobium addition, and it's one of the most widely specified corrosion-resistant nickel alloys in production. Strength comes primarily from solid-solution hardening by molybdenum and niobium, without requiring age hardening or any special heat treatment. That simplicity in achieving high strength makes 625 unusually practical across a wide range of fabricated forms and weld overlay applications.

625 sits in a versatile position in the nickel alloy family. It's not optimized for any single environment the way C-276 is for reducing acids or 214 is for extreme oxidation. Instead, it delivers broad corrosion resistance across a wide range of media at a strength level that many competing alloys can't match without additional heat treatment. That combination of strength, corrosion resistance, and fabricability is why 625 appears across so many industries and application types.

Seawater corrosion resistance is one of 625's strongest credentials. In marine and offshore environments where chloride concentration, temperature, and biological activity combine to create severe localized corrosion conditions, 625 performs reliably where stainless steels and lower-alloy nickel grades fail. Offshore riser components, mooring systems, seawater piping, and subsea hardware regularly specify 625 for that reason.

Weldability is a genuine practical advantage. The alloy welds without requiring pre-heat or post-weld heat treatment in most service conditions, and as-welded corrosion resistance is maintained without sensitization. The niobium addition stabilizes the alloy against carbide precipitation during welding, which is critical for fabricated equipment used in corrosive service. That combination of high strength and excellent weldability is one of the core reasons 625 is used so extensively for weld overlay cladding in oil and gas equipment, where a corrosion-resistant surface layer over a carbon steel base is the practical and cost-effective solution.

Fatigue strength is above average for a corrosion-resistant nickel alloy. In applications involving pressure cycling, mechanical vibration, or dynamic loading combined with corrosive exposure, 625's fatigue performance supports longer component life than many competing grades at equivalent strength levels.
