PM Industries manufactures, supplies, and stocks Haynes 214 Round Bar (UNS N07214). It's a nickel-chromium-aluminum-iron alloy developed specifically for applications where oxidation resistance at very high temperatures is the primary requirement. The aluminum content is the defining feature of this alloy. It allows Haynes 214 to form a tightly adherent alumina scale on the surface, which is more protective than the chromia scale formed by most standard nickel and stainless alloys at temperatures above 1000°C.

That alumina scale is what separates Haynes 214 from alloys like 230, 188, or HR-120 at the upper end of the temperature range. Where chromia-forming alloys begin to lose scale integrity above 1100°C, Haynes 214 continues to protect the base metal effectively, making it a practical choice for the hottest sections of furnace systems and combustion equipment.
Oxidation resistance is the reason engineers specify Haynes 214. In furnace equipment, heat treatment fixtures, and combustion hardware that operate continuously near or above 1100°C, most alloys lose surface integrity faster than expected. The alumina scale on Haynes 214 minimizes that surface attack, reduces scaling losses, and extends component service life considerably compared to chromia-forming alternatives.
Carburization resistance is good, which matters for heat treatment equipment exposed to carbon-rich atmospheres. Retorts, muffles, and fixtures in carburizing furnaces benefit from both the oxidation and carburization resistance this alloy provides.
Thermal cycling resistance is solid. The alumina scale adheres well through repeated heating and cooling, which means less spalling and better surface condition over the component's service life compared to alloys that lose scale during cycling.
Strength at room temperature is moderate relative to other superalloys. Haynes 214 is not the right choice where high mechanical load at temperature is the primary driver. For applications where oxidation resistance and long surface life at extreme heat are the critical requirements, it performs very well.
Fabricability is practical. The alloy can be machined, formed, and welded using procedures appropriate for nickel-based alloys. Complex component geometries are achievable with proper tooling and technique.
