AMS 4902 covers commercially pure, alpha-phase Titanium Grade 2. It is the workhorse grade for parts that need strength, corrosion resistance, and easy forming in one material. Grade 2 carries slightly more strength than Grade 1 and keeps excellent ductility, good weldability, and strong resistance to seawater and many chemical solutions. Engineers reach for it in aerospace, medical, marine, and general industrial work where purity and predictable performance both matter.

The mechanical properties of Grade 2 are consistent and easy to design around. Tensile and yield values suit structural parts that do not call for the higher strength, and lower ductility, of alloyed titanium grades. The material cold-forms, draws, and bends with minimal springback, which makes it a good fit for complex shapes and tight-tolerance parts.

Titanium also brings a high strength-to-weight ratio.
