This is a heat-treatable alloy, typically supplied in T5 or T6 temper. It's not the highest-strength aluminium grade, but for architectural, decorative, and many structural applications, the strength is sufficient and the surface and finish characteristics are hard to match at the price point.

Corrosion resistance holds up well in outdoor, moisture-rich, and mild chemical environments without special treatment. When anodized, the surface protection improves further and the appearance becomes more durable, which is why 6063 is a common choice for visible architectural components and design-focused products.

Machinability is good. The bar cuts and drills cleanly, making it practical for general fabrication work. It's not the first choice for high-volume precision machining where 6061 or 2014 would be more appropriate, but for moderate machining requirements it performs reliably and efficiently.

Weldability is good with standard MIG and TIG processes. The alloy joins well, which suits it for fabricated assemblies, frames, and structural profiles.
